Situation & Task

I created a song called “Impressions” and wanted to created a music video for the song. The music video would also be used as show visuals in my live performances of the track. I wanted to create a video that brought the users into another world. This video was also a place for me to test my technical abilities in Cinema 4D and create some interesting scenes.

Action

I first created a color scheme to adhere to. I wanted to the scenes to be extremely aesthetically pleasing so I combined teals with dandelion yellows accompanied by bronze and silver textures. I started exploring wind simulations and character animations to help the video come to life. The most complicated part of the video was having the camera zoom into the robots eye and then later revealing that animation was being watched on a TV screen. I rendered out all of the scenes from Cinema 4D and then edited the piece in Adobe After Effects.

Result

This project was a learning experience for me as I more deeply explored wind simulations, character animations, thinking particles, and compositing. I have received a lot of good feedback on this piece with many telling me that it brought them into a sort of “dream world.”
