Situation & Task

In 2023 and 2024, the musician Illenium was going on a large international tour. I was tasked with creating these show visuals for the live tour which celebrated the release of his fifth studio album. The performances spanned the continents of North America, Europe, Australia, and Asia and the largest shows of the tour took place at Sofi Stadium in LA and Empower Field in Denver. For this unreleased track, the artist and creative director were open to my ideas for the visual look of this song. Much of the visual theme of the tour involved snow and this particular song evokes an eerie emotion.

Action

I came up with the idea for a dark forest with animated light bars and glowing “Illenium phoenix” logos. I created the scene on Cinema 4D with Redshift. Due to the high polygon count, complex light sources, and wind simulations of the scene, I used a render farm for the final export which ensured maximum resolution.

Result

The project was a success and this visual was one of the highlighted moments of the tour which was consistently shared across Illenium’s social media accounts. This visual had seen by over 1,000,000 live in-person and online spectators and is still used today for his performances at his Las Vegas Zouk Nightclub residency and international festival performances.
