Situation & Task

While working for Pinnacle Advertising as a motion designer and 3D artist, I was tasked with creating a visual captivating TV and social media commercial for Michigan’s ArtPrize Exhibit, sponsored by Honda.

Action

I worked with an art director at the agency and together we came up with the idea to have a blueprint of a vehicle come to life in realistic form, echoing the idea that art can transform and inspire creativity. The car continues to evolve as you see a painting animate onto the vehicle before it drives away. This project was multi-layered as it involved many different styles of animation coming together into one cohesive piece. At the time, the agency had never done a project anything like this and I was able to find a way to seamlessly integrate an animated 2D texture onto a 3D vehicle using 5 different projection map cameras in Cinema 4D.

Result

The project resulted in a successful campaign which reached hundreds of thousands of people in Michigan. Viewers saw this ad as a fun take on the Honda brand while helping elevate the overall aesthetic of the ArtPrize Exhibit. Honda continued to go to Pinnacle Advertising for years to come after the success of this project.
