Situation & Task

While contracted through WastedPotential, I created this show visual for Brent Faiyaz’s Apple Music Showcase. The stage design was quite complex for this show as it involved LED walls that were arranged three dimensionally across the venue. The artist requested that I create silver cubes for this song.

Action

Because of the 3D aspect of the LED walls for this set, I decided to model a scene that would look like a realistic art installation when viewed in a live environment. I created the scene in Cinema 4D and rendered out multiple different camera angles of it in order to create this three dimensional effect on the stage. The lights in the Cinema 4D project are also animated to the beat of the song so that it further sells the effect in the live setting.

Result

The performance of this song, “Clouded", became the marquee performance of the show and is featured on Brent Faiyaz’s YouTube channel and Apple Music artist profile. The visual enhanced the performance as it truly gave a unique look to the song and transformed the space.
