In the fall of 2023, AJR’s manager contacted me about creating some show visuals for their album release show in New York City. For this particular song, the only direction that I was given was “create an American suburb and make it fun.” As AJR often references, “Steve’s Going to London” is the only song on this album that has a light-hearted tone and was purely made for that reason. While ideating for this, I sent one of the band members some examples of previous projects in order to get a better idea of the overall aesthetic that they were going for. I sent over a short clip of a video that I made for fun a while back, and the band thought that it was a style frame for their visual. They loved it and wanted to go fully in that direction of what was once just a passion project for me. With only a 7 day deadline between 3 visuals for this show, I prepared my files for a render farm in order to ensure project completion.
